Silence Amplified

photo: artfertilityblog.com

Side by side we lie
Heartbeats echoing at each other
Loud silence

Our souls need tolerance

Under the pregnant African sky we lie still
Malicious silence reminded to life by insolent mosquitoes

Hearts yearning for each other
Whispers only meet cold shoulders

"Just yesterday", oh memories plague me
Intimacy interrupted by a dual personality disorder;
Souls lacking the placidity for bonding
A union now devoid of affection's funding

We lie here still as though dead
Pretending not to mind each other's presence
Fearing our secret lusts to speak
Back to back behind a wall of silence too thick

As the midnight air instead caresses our nude sweaty bodies
Sleep's hands puts our restless minds to rest
Underneath a blanket of silence our feet meet
I love her still with each heartbeat
