PETALS THROUGH THE ROCKS

Enobong Umohette UBF title holder

Embattled on every side but sustained by grace
While I break this earth, Lord I won't loose my praise
My faith is for all time and not a phase
On my knees I win at your alter, and that's my place

AFRICA MY PAIN AND JOY

Africa, oh Africa,
Its not just a land of tall trees
and black faces
Or green landscape and multi-races
Its a land rich in culture,
personality, and Pride
A land of shadows and history
Wisdom is the meat of elders
And proverbs, the wine to wash it down

LOVE NOTES

I love you to the ceasing of my heart beat
Your kind of love pleasures life
I can't quit
My ocean of sweetness, into you I fall...

THE EARTH, THE SEED AND THE FARMER

Sun burn;
When I break the earth
I break I
For I am the earth
And the earth is I

He Says:
Flesh of my flesh; Bone of my bone.
With you in my life, I can never be alone.
Beauty so fresh and never old; today I make bold to have and to hold!

I MISS YOU

foto credit: isaiahks
Its been 3 years since you left
And baby I miss you
I remember with childish fondness those days you would count the hours to have me lie beside you
Days seemed endless and time lost its power

IF...

foto credit anjelicek
If I smile today
If I laugh today
If my countenance be bright today
If I am of high spirit today
Then it is you on my mind

Putting all worries behind

If you clap today
If you dance today
If you are in good cheer today
If you feel dear today
Justify me
Tell me it is me on your mind

If you are in pain today
If worries knock at your door
If you feel alone
And you need a friend to hear
Let it be me my dear
Let it be me...

REJECTED STONES

What really was the matter with the rejected stone
Lloyd threw as hard as he could till he broke his collar bone
Only in his dreams did he sit on the throne

Jane was too pale, too short, too fat
All she wanted was to give it all her heart

UN-BEAUTIFUL

Tears begging to fall
I hyperventilate holding on to every memory like my last breath
That moment when you left without a word; unforgettable

DREAM STATE

He reads me louder than he hears me stirring for a fight
I creep into my dreams praying out of sight
My sun is a deep sleeper
Am in a constant night

MADIBA

Living carcass...
Shamelessly in formation stand
Long faces and swollen eyes
But let the incorruptible sons of peace mourn...
Madiba

ARROGANT DAUGHTER OF A POOR FATHER

She parades herself in borrowed gold
Borrowed clothes
Borrowed hair
Even borrowed joy
For the smile on her face will fade in time
When the strong wine wares off

She parades herself like a queen
But she is a scavenger inside out
Feeding on weakness and trust
Enriched by deception and pretense
She speaks in a mimicked voice
Aha! Her tongue is false
But sounds pleasant to fools and simple minds

For that which makes her seem pleasant to the eyes are not hers
She has no style of her own
She is just a copy of television characters
And she plays each role as it fits
Her time belongs to the highest bidder
Even her soul is sold out for riches

She parades in different flashy cars
She lays claim to no relationship
But has graced different deluxe suites
She counts borrowed riches all day
For even her earnings belong to her desires
The nights anticipate her drama
And she puts up a good show
She smells of wealth and arrogance
Spenders are keepers
And the rest, she steps on like roaches

Ironic...
Because somewhere
In an old licking hut
an old wretched father comforts an old dying wife
She hums a familiar lullaby amid shivers and tears
"I want to see my baby before I leave..."
But her last wish has been stolen by the sweet high life of society
Never to be reclaimed
